Video Tutorial On Friction

Hello Guys, welcome to my fifth blog. In this blog I will be emphasizing on teaching about friction to class V students under the subject, Science. In order to teach about Friction to the students, I have made the best use of all the features and ICT tool in my video. Before creating the video tutorial, I made a power point using all the necessary features. I inserted related information and pictures to make the lesson explicit to the students. Then I inserted essential animations to make the ppt captivating and diverting. I made sure that color combinations were put into consideration while preparing the slides. I used visible font and good color combinations that made the text comprehensible. Then after doing all the necessary edition for the power point slides, I used Camtasia for further edition to make the video tutorial satisfactory.  As some people have limited experience of editing videos, Camtasia is a fantastic place to start. The visual effect buttons are large and labeled clearly. Effects can be applied with a simple drag-and-drop. The timeline has an automatic snap feature which makes editing clean an straightforward. It has the absolute best screen recording feature as well so I used Camtasia as my video editing app for this blog.

With the basic concept and principles entailed in the study of friction, it is discovered that friction is one important element that is employed in almost all aspects of living. Friction is important because it allows a good grasp and firm grip on things or to a surface to maintain a particular position and to initiate movement. So its crucial to teach about friction to the students from an early age so that they can understand the surrounding around them distinctly.

After introducing the lesson, this video will be used during lesson input where students will be asked to watch the video conscientiously. As the video include interesting graphics, simulations, animations and pictures, it will grasp the attention of the students whereby students will be able to magnify their understanding about the topic. Then after watching the video, students will be asked to do few activities in order to check their understanding.

Learning Activities For the Students

Student will carry out this activity individually. They will get 10 minutes to do the activity where they have to fill out a google form for the quiz and later answer few questions. This activity is mainly carried out to examine students understanding of the lesson.

Click here for the quiz Students will attempt this quiz individually for 5 minutes. The teacher can help the needy students and monitor the activity. After attempting this quiz, they will do the following activity aw well.

Activity 2

Which type of force is present in the following pictures? Write "A" for air resistance and "F" for friction.

Video Tutorial on Foods for Health

Click here for the video tutorial

Hi guys๐Ÿ‘‹, in todays blog I have created a short video in order to teach about "Food for Health" to class V students. I have firstly collected all the necessary materials like vegetables, fruits and cereals that I need for my lesson. Then after preparing the lesson input, I made short clips whereby I explained about the definition of foods and types of food groups. Then in the next video I showed different foods to the students so that they can classify the foods according to their food groups. In the end I combined all the videos together in sequence and did the necessary edition. I demonstrated using real fruits and vegetables in this video so that students will get a crystal clear concept about foods. Most of the time we can see that prints in the textbooks are not visible and some times the pictures are in black and white so students face difficulty while absorbing the information. It will connect their new learning with their prior knowledge as well as enhance their new learning. Also when we give video lesson to the students, it offer flexibility to pause, rewind, or skip throughout the video to have class discussions or review particular areas. As everything is in favor of the students when we make a video lesson, I created this video for my blog.

Though there are many interesting topics under class V science, the reason why I chose this particular topic "Food for Health" for my blog is because it is important to teach the importance of good nutrition to our students. The more our students understands about food and nutrition, the more excited they will be about eating healthy. Then to learn well, students need to eat well. Nutrition plays a key role in the healthy development of the children. Nutritious food provide our body and mind with the energy needed to grow, feel well, be active, stay healthy and learn. So from my lesson I want to encourage students ability, motivation and confidence to make choices to care for themselves within the context values and resources. this in turn can support both academic achievement and the long term development and success of all children . It will also offer meaningful life skills such as learning how to balance between foods and how to plan and prepare meals and snacks for a healthy life style.  So that's why I created this blog for this particular topic.

This video tutorial will be used during lesson development because it has all the necessary information that we need to convey to the students. After introducing the lesson to the students, students will be asked to watch this video on their own where they can gin new information like kinds of foods, different food groups, etc., Students will enjoy this video as I have used real foods whereby students will be observe it carefully and also absorb new knowledge. After watching this video during the lesson development, students will carry out the activity.

Learning Activities for the students

After watching the video tutorial, students have to do the following activities. This activity is mainly to check students understanding about the new lesson. Students have to sort out the three food groups as given in the table below. Students will do the following activity individually.

    Body Building Food

          Protective Food

    Energy giving food

Thank you and take care ๐Ÿ’œ

Third Blog

Welcome to my third blog ๐Ÿ™‡

In today’s blog, I have created a video lesson on the topic “Synonym” with the help of ICT tools to convey the content effectively to the students. This lesson is useful to everyone but is mainly dedicated to class four students.  I have created this video lesson by firstly making a PowerPoint, then added all the necessary animations and formats, and then inserted the voice to make the lesson more realistic. Later I converted this PowerPoint to a video lesson so that students can watch and listen to the lesson without any disturbance. Sometimes when we upload PowerPoint files for students, some students find it difficult to use it as this lesson is mainly for lower primary students and they cannot use PowerPoint features well. So when we upload videos along with animations, students become interested as they can just watch and learn. So that’s the reason why I created this lesson in a video format.

While creating this video, I used all the necessary features like different animations, appropriate pictures related to the topic, relevant sound which is loud enough for the students along with the texts which are big enough for all the students to see. So I tried to integrate different ICT tools into my lesson as much as I could. The reason why I integrated ICT in this particular topic “SYNONYM’ for the students is that learning just one word a day could become a monotonous routine for the students. They require constant moderation in their learning pattern, which learning synonyms and antonyms can give them. Also when children know more words for the same meaning, they will start to use them in their writing. So, those who keep up with a good synonym, always have a better and upgraded piece of essays or other writings. If children develop the habit of learning more words associated with one particular word, they indirectly get trained for higher-level thinking as well. So after knowing as well as hearing the importance of learning synonyms in our life from my teachers from middle school till college, I thought that I should teach this interesting and important topic to the students.

This video will be used during lesson introduction till lesson input because it introduces the lesson and later shares all the necessary information related to the topic. Students will be introduced to the topic and then shown this video where they will acquire new knowledge. They will learn new concepts like definitions of synonyms and examples of synonyms. I can guarantee that students will be focused on the lesson because this video consists of all the necessary features (audio, visual, etc.,) which will boost the interest of every individual in the class and keep them engaged. This short video will also allow students for more efficient processing and memory recall. The visual and auditory nature of this video appeals to a wide audience and allows the students to process information in a way that’s natural to them.

Learning activities for Students

I have designed this activity mainly to check students understanding of the concept after the lesson input. Students can discuss with their friends if they want to but they have to carry out this activity individually. Students will be given a word along with a picture (If the word is angry, a picture of an angry person will be given). All they have to do is come up with three synonyms of that particular word.

Activity

Second Blog

Hello Everyone, I sincerely welcome all of you to my second blog ๐Ÿ’™.

In this blog, I have designed a short video clip on the topic “Figures of Speech”. This learning activity is particularly designed for class three students to help them understand the concept better. For this activity, I have used various animations using different pictures, clip art, and colors so that students will get a real life visual of everything. As we can see in textbooks, most of the pictures are distorted using black and white color so sometimes it’s difficult for students to get all the information correctly. So that’s why, I have created this learning activity with the aim of giving crystal clear concepts about the new topic to the students.

While creating this short video clip, I inserted all the necessary animations. I even used clip arts like pig, person, cake, etc., to arouse the curiosity of the learners. For the pictures I used spin, fly in, fly outenlarge, and glow animations. Though some people find these kinds of animations distracting, I thought that for lower level class, students like things which have many movements so that’s why I animated using different effects. I even inserted text box to write few examples of the topics. Too many of words in a video clip may distract the learners so that’s why I inserted short texts and recorded most of the description of the topic. In order to check students understanding about the topic, I have also given a short quiz at the end of the power point. In this blog, I am teaching four types of figures of speech: Hyperbole, Metaphor, Personification and Onomatopoeia.

I will use this teaching learning material during lesson introduction so that students can not only understand the concept but also differentiate different types of speech. I will show them the slides and explain each slide along with examples so that they can connect each topic with different examples.

The reason why I created this material is to help students get a better understanding of different types of figure of speech. Learning figures of speech, like similes, metaphors or personification in English, helps the learners to improve their understanding of the figurative aspect of the language while also exposing them to the use and understanding of clichรฉs and slangs. It is also believed that they help sow the seeds of imagination and stimulate the learners’ creativity in the language. The importance of learning and using them is thus very obvious for an individual to be able to fit in the world where English is the language of communication.

The lack of understanding and using figures of speech leaves the user of the English language at sea, as to the real meaning of what is being said or written. The unseasoned learner may confuse the figurative meaning with its literal connotation. This may lead to a sense of frustration and lack of self confidence in the learner towards the English language. Learners who begin to effectively use figures of speech show a better understanding of the language. So keeping in mind all these importance of learning figure of speech for students, I tried to make this power point using different animations in order to make it eye catchy and interesting for the students.

Learning Activity for Students (Quiz)

Students will do this activity individually. After going through the above video lesson, students will check their understanding by doing this the following activities. This will help them to comprehend their new knowledge effectively.

After going through the above quiz, students will continue with the following quiz individually. After reading each question carefully, they have to identify the what type of figure of speech is used in the sentence.

1. "My teacher has eyes in back of her head".
a. Simile
b. Metaphor
c. Personification
d. Hyperbole

2. There was a loud "THUMP" coming from upstairs. "THUMP THUMP THUMP".
a. Personification
b. Metaphor
c. Onomatopoeia
d. Idiom

3. The leaves danced in the wind.
a. Hyperbole
b. Personification
c. Simile
d. Metaphor

4. A metaphor is a figure of speech that describes an object or action in a way that isn't literally true, but helps explain an idea or make a comparison.
a. True
b. False

5.  "I am a pencil,
I like to live in school.
Munching on words and papers,
after dancing all day on notebooks.
sleeping soundly on weekends,
and waiting patiently for Mondays."

The above poem is a _____________________

First Blog

Hello Everyone, Welcome to my blog.

I have designed a learning activity using power point on the topic weather. This learning activity is particularly designed for class three students. I have used different animations using different colors so that the pictures look real even in power point. I am teaching about four different weather; sunny, rainy, cloudy and snowy using my teaching learning material. I have used different animations for different weathers so that students can point out the differences between each weather correctly.

I will use this teaching learning material during my lesson input so that students can connect it with their prior knowledge. After introducing the topic, I will show them the slides where they can observe and connect their prior knowledge to their new knowledge effectively. After going through each slides, students can also share their experience about each weather to the whole class. This will help them create a deeper understanding about the topic.

The reason why I created this teaching learning activity is to in still a deeper understanding about different weathers to the students. The study of the weather in these early years is important because it can help students understand that some events in nature have a repeating pattern. Early meteorological knowledge can also help children stay safe by encouraging preparedness and understand the rapidly changing conditions. Also students learn about weather from textbooks but the pictures in the text are not so clear which can limit students understanding. Through animations, it will not only attract students attention but also give every details about each weather which helps them in their learning. So, I created this learning material keeping in mind, the importance of weather in our daily life and the importance of knowing about weather from the early age.

Activity Instructions

Students will carry out this activity individually. They can discuss with their friends, but they have to do it on their own. After reading the instructions carefully' students have to write down the correct answer in the given space and later describe about the weather in their own words. After doing the activity, as a follow up students will be asked to share their answers with their friends. All the student will be given opportunity to share what they have written to their friends because each student will have different answer.

Q.1) What's the weather?

 1. It's ________________

2. It's _______________

3. It's ____________

4. It's ______________

Q.2) Write a short description about what you do during each weather.

a. During Sunny day, I ________________________________
